What is a Cherry Angioma?

Chery Angioma (also referred to as Senile Angiomas or Campbell de Morgan spot), are non-cancerous lesions that contain abnormal clusters of blood vessels that show up as small red nodules on the skin’s surface.

What do I need to do prior to my appointment?

You will need to see your General Practitioner (GP), who must be trained in skin cancer medicine, to arrange a skin cancer assessment of the cherry angioma lesion(s) within two weeks prior to your scheduled laser procedure. It is important to have your Cherry Angioma lesion(s) checked by your GP to ensure that to the best of their knowledge, the lesion(s) are benign (cancer free).

When a Cherry Angioma lesion(s) is removed by laser, the lesion is completely disintegrated, meaning that the mole cannot be sent to pathology for testing. Having the Cherry Angioma lesion(s) checked by your GP prior to laser treatment is essential and a requirement for this service.

Note: The Queen of The Skin does not provide mole diagnosis as part of the Cherry Angioma lesion removal service.

Once your Cherry Angioma lesion(s) has been examined by your GP, you must bring a copy of your referral letter to your laser clinic appointment.

It is important to note that even after having your cherry angioma lesion(s) checked by your GP, there is no guarantee that the lesion(s) being treated by laser are cancer free.

Cherry Angioma Removal Procedure

Queen of The Skin has been removing Cherry Angioma lesions for over 12 years, with leading-edge laser technology which is the only laser device designed with a small pen-tip head, shaped to specifically target cherry angioma lesions.

How long does the procedure take?

We allow 30 minutes for your appointment as this will allow time to complete a patient Registration Form, receive a consultation and discuss the procedure and post-care instructions. This is a walk-in walk-out treatment that removes your Cherry Angioma lesions within minutes with little or no downtime.

How many treatments will I require?

The Queen of The Skin’s innovative treatment approach along with the use of our leading-edge laser technology, facilitates the removal of Cherry Angioma lesions in only one treatment.

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment is often termed ‘uncomfortable’ and is tolerated well among most age groups. This is due to the speed and precision in which Cherry Angioma lesions are removed. However, we do offer topical and local anaesthetic options designed to completely numb the area to be treated.

Post Treatment Results

Following your treatment there will be some redness and possible swelling on and around the treated areas for up to 72 hours. In addition, a temporary scab will form, and this is a natural part of the treatment process and the scabbing will usually fall off within 7-10 days. Once the scab has fallen off, the area will be red (due to new capillary formation) and over several months, the redness will dissipate.

Post Care

You will be requested to send an image of the treated area 3 days post treatment and 2 weeks post treatment. This is to ensure that the treated area(s) is healing well and that you have kept the scab intact. If at any time you have questions or concerns, you should contact our clinic to arrange a face-to-face appointment.

During the healing process, you can wear makeup to conceal the treated area – recommendations will be provided regarding the best types of makeup to be used.

If required, you will be provided with topical cream that will provide nutrients to accelerate the skin’s healing process. In addition, we also offer Light Emitting Diode Treatments (LED) to accelerate the healing process.

You will be provided with a Post-Care Form along with verbal instructions to care for your treated area(s).
