Laser Sun Spot Removal

Sun damaged skin refers to some of the most common brown spots on our skin such as freckles, age spots and liver spots. These skin spots usually contain a very high concentration of melanin (pigment), and can occur due to age, genetics and sun exposure.

How does it work?

Queen of The Skin’s leading-edge laser technology has been designed with a small pen-tip head, shaped to specifically target sun damaged skin without causing damage to the surrounding skin tissue.

How many treatments are required?

Sun spots, freckles and age-spots will be immediately removed during your first treatment, however, it is recommended that you allow for a subsequent ‘touch-up’ treatment in the event there is residue pigmentation.

In addition to removing sun spots and freckles, this innovative laser technology stimulates collagen to improve skin quality. Improvements in the appearance and health of your skin will be seen following your first treatment. In terms of skin rejuvenation, this is an iterative treatment process and a regular course of laser treatment is required for optimal result

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment is often termed ‘uncomfortable’ but is tolerated well among most age groups. This is due to the speed and precision in which the sun spots and freckles are removed. We do offer an option to receive a topical anaesthetic which will numb the skin’s surface prior to treatment.

Post treatment results

In terms of aesthetic results, you will notice improvement in your skin shortly after your first treatment. In particular, you will notice that your sun spots and freckles have been removed.

Following your treatment there will be some redness and possible swelling on and around the treated areas for up to 72 hours. In addition, a temporary scab will form and this is a natural part of the treatment process and the scabbing will usually fall off within 7-10 days. Once the scab has

fallen off, the area will be red (due to new capillary formation to heal and repair the treated area), and over several months, the redness will dissipate.

Prolonged redness is the most common side-effect and will dissipate over time. Uncommon side-effects can include hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation and scarring.

Post care

You will be requested to send an image of the treated area 3 days post treatment, 2 weeks post treatment and again, 6 weeks post treatment. This is to ensure that the treated area(s) is healing well and that you have kept the scab intact. If at any time you have questions or concerns, you should contact our clinic to arrange a face-to-face appointment.

During the healing process, you can wear makeup to conceal the treated area and we will provide recommendations regarding the best types of makeup to be used.

If required, you will be provided with topical cream that will provide nutrients to your skin to accelerate the healing process. In addition, we also offer Light Emitting Diode Treatments (LED) to accelerate the healing process.

You will be provided with a Post-Care Information Sheet and verbal instructions to care for the treated area(s).

Our proven Sun spot removal is a proven, safe and effective way to beautify your face and other body parts.

Downtime?

Following your treatment there will be some redness, skin warmth and mild swelling on and around the treated areas for up to 72 hours. You can apply makeup and cover up the treated area the day post treatment. In terms of returning to your day-to-day routine, this treatment will not interfere in any way.
