What is skin needling?

Skin needling, also known as micro-needling, is a minimally invasive procedure involving superficial and controlled puncturing of the skin using a rolling technique involving very small, fine needles.

Skin needling is used for skin rejuvenation, to reduce pore size and to reduce facial scars and stretch marks. Skin needling initiates a healing response in your skin which leads to an increase in cellular activity, especially the production of collagen. When treating scarring, skin needling must be performed deep within the skin, at a depth of up to 3mm and only Registered Nurses or Doctors are authorised to perform this procedure.

Didn’t work for me!?

Skin needling results for some people are visible for only a relatively short period of time (perhaps a week) then the skin returns to its pre-treatment condition. Why is that? The short answer is that to be fully effective, skin needling treatment needs to be combined with light therapy and topical creams to achieve long-lasting results. The Queen of the Skin has developed this unique holistic approach that delivers amazing results.

Treating the right way

Skin needling is a great way to reduce enlarged pores, improve uneven skin tone, treat acne scarring and rejuvenate the skin. It should be noted the cells stimulated by skin needling will begin to die-off after treatment. By introducing Light Emitting Diode Therapy and/or Low-Level Laser treatment a few days post the skin needling treatment, and again at one and two weeks post treatment, these cells can be recharged with the energy required to continue the creation of more cells which will rejuvenate the skin.

In addition, the Queen of the Skin will recommend preparing your skin with topical Vitamin A and Vitamin C pre and post treatment in order to support the new cells in remodelling the skin, thus providing you with the best possible rejuvenated skin.

How many treatments is recommended?

For best results, the Queen of the Skin recommends three treatments over three months

Is the process painful?

To ensure that patients are kept as comfortable as possible, topical anaesthetic is applied to the skin.

How long does the procedure take?

Please allow up to 2 hours for your appointment as this will allow time to complete a Patient Registration Form, receive a free consultation, have the topical anaesthetic applied and discuss the procedure and post-care instructions.

Possible side effects

It is common to experience redness and in some cases, bruising post treatment. Less common side effects include but are not limited to granulomas and prolonged redness.

Downtime?

Following your treatment there will be some redness, skin warmth and mild swelling on and around the treated areas for up to 72 hours. You can apply makeup and cover up the treated area the day post treatment. In terms of returning to your day-to-day routine, this treatment will not interfere in anyway.
